Here's another in the overly long list of projects that went unbuilt. This undulating landscape was commissioned by the Whitney Museum for its retrospective, Buckminster Fuller: Starting with the Universe.  It was part of a collaborative performance piece we developed with playwright Lars Jan that recombined material and rhetorical tropes of Buckminster Fuller’s oeuvre. Our ambition was to combine the flourish of Fuller's writings with a wild interpretation of his strategies for assembly. Unfortunately, we lost funding for the project before we could begin construction. 

Feral Children of Architecture

My new favorite project is A Building A Week by Feral Children of Architecture. I love the vintage KFC wrapper as Buckminster Fuller's Dymaxion Map.

While updating the Bureau V website I found this great 70s film stock rendering of the almost final design for our Abacus installation at the Whitney.

Abacus At The Whitney Museum

We’re working with our friend Lars Jan to design and build a site-specific performance and installation piece at the Whitney Museum as part of the upcoming retrospective Buckminster Fuller: Starting with the Universe. The above image is kind of a teaser, but also strongly related to design ideas we’re exploring for the project. The installation opens in September, so more to come very soon.
